| Castalia Ohio – June 26, 2001 - Peninsula native Dean K Fick, author of The Lakeside and Marblehead Railroad, will lecture this Sunday at 2:00 PM at Orchestra Hall in Lakeside, Ohio. He will appear as the guest of the Lakeside Heritage Society, owners of Heritage Hall, the official Lakeside historical museum and archives. Admission is free aside from the normal grounds fee charged for entering Lakeside during its summer resort season. During his one-hour talk, entitled The Lakeside and Marblehead Railroad: The Big Story of a Short Line, Fick will explain the development of railroads in northern Ohio, outline the construction and operation of the Lakeside & Marblehead Railroad, and explain how the L&M served the quarries in Marblehead over the course of 78 years, from 1886 to 1964. He will also answer questions from the audience. Copies of Fick’s book, The Lakeside & Marblehead Railroad, will be made available for sale by the Lakeside Heritage Society after the lecture. -End- Contact: Dean K.
